3. What Does AI Actually Do Inside the WMS?

This question is especially important for 3PLs, rapidly growing businesses and organizations operating multiple distribution centers.
Speed to value shouldn’t only apply to the initial implementation. Consider what happens afterward.
How quickly can you roll out another facility? How easily can an existing configuration be replicated? How much effort is required to onboard a new customer or workflow?
A WMS should become easier to scale as your organization grows.

7. Will This Platform Still Meet Our Needs Five Years From Now?
Perhaps the most important question isn’t about what the WMS can do today. It’s about what happens next.
Automation will continue to evolve. AI will become more deeply embedded in operations. Customer requirements will change. New fulfillment models will emerge.
Your WMS needs an architecture and product strategy capable of evolving alongside those changes.
Ask about the vendor’s roadmap, investment strategy, architecture and approach to innovation.
