Softeon Releases Supply Chain Industry's First Fully Voice-Enabled WMS
ELITE WMS Provides Native Voice Support, Versus "Interfaced" Solutions Common Among Other Software Vendors, Increasing Productivity and Flexibility
Vienna, VA -- Softeon, provider of the industry's most innovative software solutions for supply chain execution, announced today the release of the market's first fully voice-enabled Warehouse Management System (WMS), enabling its customers to easily take advantage of the significant interest in and productivity gains available from voice-based technologies. Unlike most other solutions, which are dependent on interfaces between the WMS and external voice system software, Softeon's ELITE WMS has fully integrated voice technology, enabling users maximum flexibility and results from their voice hardware investment.
Softeon has taken a differentiated approach to voice technology, which offers the following advantage to its customers:
- Voice applications are directly supported in the ELITE WMS, without the need for separate voice application logic and software that is often required with other systems, reducing cost and complexity.
- Voice is completed integrated with the WMS tasking system, enabling voice directed activities to be determined in real-time, increasing DC productivity versus traditional, more batch-oriented interfaces.
- Voice can be used in multiple distribution processes, rather than just order picking, as is commonly true for other WMS applications. Softeon supports use of voice in replenishment, receiving, loading, cycle counting and many other warehouse functions, enabling additional productivity gains.
- Complete flexibility in use of voice and other technologies, allowing as appropriate some workers to use voice and others to use radio frequency (RF) terminals for the same functions. This enables companies to easily select the right technology for the process, and to potentially have workers for whom voice does not work well use other technologies.
Softeon has successfully deployed a completely voice-enabled WMS for House of LaRose, a leading beer distributor headquartered in Cleveland, OH. Softeon's ELITE WMS solution is delivering significant productivity gains in House of LaRose's new
400,000-square foot distribution center, where voice is used to perform most warehouse functions.
